Cuban Reparto: The New Urban Wave Taking Over Europe

Born in the neighbourhoods of Havana, reparto is the freshest Cuban sound around, and a generation of emerging artists is already bringing it to Europe.

June 10, 2026Cubita Producciones

There is a sound rising from the neighbourhoods of Havana that you can hear more and more on European dancefloors: reparto. Raw, fast and deeply local, this subgenre has become the freshest current in Cuban urban music, and it carries with it a generation of emerging artists already crossing the Atlantic.

What Reparto Is

Reparto was born in Havana's neighbourhoods as a fusion of reggaeton, trap and Cuban street slang. Its name comes from the repartos themselves —the barrios— where the style was cooked up: accelerated beats, blunt lyrics and a slang you only fully understand on the streets of Havana. What began as a neighbourhood phenomenon has ended up in the international press; outlets such as Billboard have covered it as part of the rise of Cuban urban music.

Unlike the more polished, commercial reggaeton, reparto keeps a rough, festive texture that makes it unmistakable. It is music made to be danced to, by and for a young generation that feels it as their own.

The Emerging Names

Behind this wave are names worth following closely.

Talent Fuego is one of the most active voices in reparto, with collaborations alongside Michel Boutic, El Principal and Mauro y El Pitu on tracks such as "Así", "UFF", "No Recojo" and "JALA". His sound sums up the energy of the genre: direct, catchy and straight from the barrio.

Ja Rulay broke through as half of the duo "Fixty Ordara y Ja Rulay", authors of the hit "Todo está OK", whose remix with the artist Ovi —released via Planet Records Cuba/Miami— helped spread it beyond the island. After the duo split, Ja Rulay continues solo, with tracks such as "El Expressway" and "Ratata" (with Mawell).

Wildey is another reference point for the style. His most representative song is "Normalmente", whose remix with Yomil y El Dany, released by Planet Records on 10 May 2019, was one of the most-played tracks in Cuba that year, with a video shot in Old Havana. In 2023 he released the single "Perdularia".

Why It Works in Europe

Reparto travels well because it offers what Europe's urban Latin audience is looking for: something new, authentic and unmistakably Cuban. These artists already move through urban and Latin clubs and festivals in Spain, Italy, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany, often as emerging names with excellent value.

For a programmer who wants to get ahead of the next wave of the Cuban sound, they are a smart bet. Talent Fuego, Ja Rulay and Wildey are available for booking in Europe through the agency: tell us about your project at contacto.
